Marla Martin Hanley has dreamed of being (in succession) a ballerina, a teacher like Miss Mary on Romper Room, a nurse like Cherry Ames, a poet like e. e. cummings, a microbiologist, a social worker, a professor, an academic dean, and a novelist. She lives in Portland, Oregon (though St. Paul, MN and Bartlesville, OK still feel a bit like home). She is encouraged and supported by wonderful family and friends, including her husband, two adult daughters, a red standard poodle named Jonah and the siamese cat, Muriel, who eats her novel drafts.
